Can I return to work? People living with cancer frequently ask this question. There are a number of laws protecting the rights of employees with cancer and their care partners. It is very important for you to know the legal protections that exist when you have cancer and are working or are re-entering the workforce.

LRF T-Cell Lymphoma Transportation Assistance Fund

The Lymphoma Research Foundation T-Cell Lymphoma Transportation Assistance Fund grant program provides financial assistance to T-cell lymphoma patients (including those with forms of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma) who are uninsured or have adequate medical insurance but struggle to pay for transportation costs (e.g., mileage, parking, tolls, gas, train tickets, etc.) to get to and from treatment. Grants in the amount of $500 will be awarded and applicants can re-apply every 6 months for a total maximum annual award of $1,000.

Applicants must: 1) Complete an application and demonstrate financial need; and 2) Be currently undergoing T-cell lymphoma treatment as certified by their physician. For more information, visit the LRF's website or call the Lymphoma Helpline at 800.500.9976.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) has opened their LLS Patient Aid Program, which provides financial assistance to blood cancer patients in active treatment. Eligible patients will receive a one-time $100 stipend to help offset expenses. There are no income criteria to qualify for this program.

Patient Airlift Services, Inc.

Patient Airlift Services Inc. (PALS), founded in 2010, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that arranges FREE air transportation through their volunteer pilot network for individuals requiring medical diagnosis, treatment or follow-up, for military personnel and their families, or for other compassionate and humanitarian purposes. Patient AirLift Services arranges volunteer medical flights in the greater Northeast region as far west as Ohio and as far south as Virginia. Corporate Angel Network

Through the generosity of many large corporations, the Corporate Angel Network fills empty seats on corporate jets with cancer patients in need of travel assistance. Eligibility to participate is open to all cancer patients, bone marrow donors and bone marrow recipients who are ambulatory and not in need of medical support while traveling. Miracle Flights

Miracle Flights is a nonprofit organization that flies individuals and families to treatment, second opinions, follow-up visits and clinical trials from the U.S. to U.S.-based treatment centers. The service is available for adults and children, and is primarily rare disease focused, not disease specific. There are income guidelines and proof required.
