Why is the Foundation seeking new board members?
Two of our longer-termed Board members will be rolling off the Board later this year. We are seeking replacements for those members. Additionally, the Board has determined there is room for additional board members depending upon the responses to our invitation and expertise of those individuals that come forward. One of our board members who will be cycling off is our current Treasurer, so one of the critical areas of expertise we are looking for is someone with finance or accounting experience.
What is the term of office of the Board of Directors?
The term is 3 years, renewable 2x consecutively, and an individual can join again after a break.
When are board meetings held and are they virtual or in-person?
Pre-COVID we held two in-person meetings and one virtual meeting a year. Over the last years of the pandemic, all our board meetings have been virtual. However, now that the restrictions are lifting, the Board is looking at changing the meeting schedule to one in-person retreat and two or three virtual meetings.
The in-person retreat would be held over a weekend - Friday evening, meeting all day Saturday, Sunday departure. The location and date is to be determined.
Virtual meetings have generally been held on Fridays or Saturdays, depending upon the schedules of the members. We currently have members located across the US and in the UK. Time zones are sometimes a challenge. Virtual meetings run two hours and have been scheduled from 12 noon - 2 pm Eastern time.
